I have to say my observation is much the same. I get the same great smiles from Thai folks and don’t get them from the foreign neighbors. But I’ve noticed that these foreigners are many times quite friendly when they greet Thai people. So, I was thinking that perhaps the foreigners were expecting other foreigners to not be very friendly and so they don’t bother “wasting” their smiles. Now, when I see foreigners I say Sawatdee krap and smile and it seems to elicit a few more smiles from them…Anyway Khap khun krap and sawatdee krap

Mark I agree, the same foreigners will smile at Thais more so than at me. With us the conditioning clicks in, I think. With the Thais they feel safer when they smile somehow. We have to work on those foreigners!
Hallo Shama,
Bettina
Kopfmassage mit dem Haarschneiden, das gefaellt mir!

Hi Christine, I am glad that I could help with some good memories.
